
Mikumi National Park




Mikumi national park is the fourth largest park in Tanzania covering a area of 3230 Km,the park is located at morogoro region the northern border of Tanzania largest game reserve-selou. However the park is between lumango and the uluguru mountains.
The Mikumi National Park is home to the to thousands of animals from wildebeest,zebra,a herd of buffalo crossing the road,giraffe browsing the acacia leaves along the mkata river,while hippos keep cool at the pair pools,large herd of impala,eland,,elephant taking morning stroll,troop of baboon over the branch of tree.Lion climbs a tree trunks and survey the mkata floodplain while enjoying a spot of shade,along hyenas cackling the night away.
You will find yourself in the bush surrounded by thousands of bird species,rolling display from the lilac-breasted roller and the distinctive call from the bateleur eagle while European migrants join during the rain season.The landscape of mikumi look to that of Serengeti where you will explore acacia,baobab,palm and tamarinds to the presence of Savannah.
What to do
The park is favor for wilderness trail,game drive,birding, however you can truck at Mountain uluguru and visit nearby Udzungwa mountain Np,Selou game reserve and Ruaha.
The best time to visit
The park is accessible through out the year but dry season is the best time for game spotting,mostly the grass low and the animal are crossed on waterholes.
How to get there
The park is easily accessible by road from Dar es salaam its approximately 260 km,a 4-5 hours drive,you can also travel by domestic plane to morogoro.
